Grow a Garden 2 Variants: Big, Mega and Rainbow Values

How Big, Mega and Rainbow variants really price against Normal in Grow a Garden 2 — measured from the live value list, where the multiplier is anything but fixed.

Updated — numbers in this guide recompute from the live value list.

The four variants we track

Every item on the value list is priced per variant: Normal, Big, Mega, Rainbow. The list shows all four columns side by side, each item's page carries the full table with its update date and source, and the calculator lets you pick the exact variant for every line of a trade. A variant column only gets a number when there's enough verified trading behind it — otherwise it says "insufficient data" instead of pretending.

There is no fixed multiplier

The most expensive mistake in variant trading is assuming a flat rule like "Big is always ten times Normal." Measured across the live list right now, the spread looks like this:

  • Big: across the 11 items with both a Normal and a Big value published, the multiplier runs from 1.2× to 200× Normal (median around 28×).
  • Mega: across the 3 items with both a Normal and a Mega value published, the multiplier runs from 2800× to 5000× Normal (median around 2800×).
  • Rainbow: across the 9 items with both a Normal and a Rainbow value published, the multiplier runs from 0.97× to 500× Normal (median around 56×).

That spread is the point: the market prices each item's variants on its own supply and demand, so any flat multiplier misprices most of the list. Right now there is even a variant column sitting below Normal for some items — values are what traders actually pay, not a formula. These numbers are measured from the list as of July 10, 2026 and recalculate whenever it updates.

Why so many cells say "insufficient data"

High variants of rare items barely ever change hands, and a number based on one shouted asking price isn't a value. We publish a variant's value only once real, cross-checked trades support it — the bar is described in the methodology. An empty cell doesn't mean worthless; it means unproven. How to negotiate around that is covered in the safe trading guide.

Trading variants without getting burned

  • Price the exact variant from its item page — never scale Normal by a rule of thumb.
  • Confirm the variant on the trade screen; "basically a Mega" is a rarity bluff.
  • In the calculator, set each line's variant — an unpriced variant is excluded from the total rather than guessed at.

The tier a pet lands in is only its Normal-value story — the GAG2 pet tier list shows the full variant table for every tier so you can see both at once.
