Naming note: the source's passive table labels its strongest boost column Huge, while the surrounding source copy and community trade lists call the second pet mutation Mega. We preserve the documented table label instead of silently treating the two names as proven equivalents.
What do pets do in Grow a Garden 2?
Pets give passive utility rather than one shared stat. Some improve movement or storage, some accelerate plant or fruit growth, some increase mutation chances, and others defend the garden or collect fruit. That means the best ability depends on whether you are growing, farming mutations or protecting a valuable garden.
Do Big, Mega/Huge and Rainbow pets have stronger abilities?
Yes, when a passive has documented scaling. Big generally doubles the normal passive and Huge generally triples it; Rainbow commonly applies a 1.25× boost. Raccoon and Turtle use special values shown above, so do not assume the generic multiplier for every pet.
Which pets protect your garden?
Bee swarms intruders, Bear tackles and throws them, Bald Eagle carries them away, and Ice Serpent freezes them. Raccoon is an offensive utility pet: at night it can steal fruit from gardens whose owners are away.
Which pets help crops grow or mutate?
Deer and Butterfly speed plant growth, while Firefly helps fruit grow larger. Golden Dragonfly improves natural Gold mutation odds and Unicorn improves natural Rainbow odds. Compare the resulting fruit multipliers on the mutation list.
